PowerFlex 3.0: OpenStack Cinder is unable to connect to the REST API Gateway

Symptoms

IM Gateway closes the connections prematurely (during TLS negotiation). Similar errors can be observed in the cinder logs:

Impact

Unable to manage the VxFlex OS environment.

Cause

The incorrect Java version is installed on the IM Gateway server.
In this case, OpenJDK was used, while PowerFlex OS 3.0.x supports only Oracle Java.

 

Resolution

Install supported Oracle Java version.
See PowerFlex Deployment Guide for supported versions.

 

Impacted Versions

PowerFlex OS 3.x - before PowerFlex 3.5

Fixed In Version

Not a PowerFlex, rather a compatibility issue Starting with PowerFlex 3.5 OpenJDK is now supported.
