  • Dell Encryption Enterprise Shield

Warning: The next step is a Windows Registry edit:

How to have the Shield dump the inventory that it is uploading to the Policy Proxy out to a file:

  • Add the following registry, this requires a reboot to take effect:
    • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\CMGShield] DumpInventory=REG_DWORD:1
  • [Optional] To get a complete inventory add the following registry entries:
    • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\CMGShield] RefreshInventory=REG_DWORD:1
    • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\CMGShield] OnlySendInvChanges=REG_DWORD:0
  • After the reboot, force an inventory upload by adding this registry key:
    • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Credant\CMGShield\Notify] PingProxy=REG_DWORD:1

When inventory is prepared to be uploaded, it is saved to a file named C:\inventory_upload.xml. The shield overwrites the contents of this file each time a new inventory is prepared.
