Removal Instructions

NOTE: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without speciality tools, that aren't available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the SD Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Push the SD card into the SD card slot to release it from the computer.

  3. Pull the SD card fully out of the slot and system.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Access Panel:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Loosen the eight captive screws that secure the base cover to the computer.

  3. Using a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover starting from bottom edge of the cover.

    NOTE: For models shipped without SmartCard reader, pry open the base cover from the smart card reader slot. Use your fingers to pry open the base cover as the use of plastic scribe or any other sharp objects may damage the base cover.
  4. Lift the base cover starting from the bottom edge and remove it from the computer.

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the SD Card and Access Panel.

  2. Locate the SIM card next to the WLAN card.

  3. Gently slide the SIM card cover towards the left to unlock it [1], then flip the SIM card up and over along the right edge of the card [2].

  4. Remove the SIM card from the SIM Card slot [3].

CAUTION: The SIM card cover is very fragile and can be easily damaged if it is not properly unlocked before opening.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the SD Card and Access Panel.

  2. Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.

  3. Remove the three (M2x5) screws that are securing the battery to the computer.

  4. Slightly lift the battery and disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the battery.

  5. Remove the battery away from the computer.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the WLAN Card (WiFi, Wireless):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the SD Card and Access Panel.

  2. The WLAN card is located on the right-hand side of SIM Card slot.

  3. Remove the captive screw [1] securing the WLAN Card bracket [2].

  4. Disconnect the antenna cables from the card [3] and Slide out the WLAN card from the connector on the system board [4].

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Cellular WWAN Wireless Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the SD Card and Access Panel.

  2. The WWAN card is located to the left of the SIM Card slot.

  3. Loosen the screw [1] securing the WWAN card bracket and lift the WWAN card bracket from the WWAN card.

  4. Disconnect the antenna cables [2] from the WWAN card and slide to left to remove WWAN card from the slot.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Keyboard:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the SD Card, Access Panel and Battery.

  2. Using a plastic scribe, pry the top edge of the keyboard lattice starting from the recess points [1] and working your way around the sides and bottom edge.

  3. Remove the keyboard lattice from the keyboard.

  4. Locate the keyboards cables underneath the Battery, lift the latches on the ZIF connectors, and disconnect the Keyboard cable [1] and the keyboard backlight cable [1] from the connectors on the motherboard.

  5. Remove the seven (7) screws that hold the keyboard to the palmrest [2], and pry up the bottom edge of the keyboard and work along both sides.

  6. Carefully pull the keyboard cables and keyboard toward you, and lift it out of the system.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Memory Modules:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the SD Card, Access Panel, Battery and Keyboard.

  2. The primary memory is located underneath the keyboard, remove the single screw securing the memory shield [1] and slide the shield to the right and lift it up away from the memory [2] pull the metal retention clips away from the memory DIMM [3] and lift out of the PC [4] and repeat for any additional memory DIMMs at that location.

  3. Turn the system over, because the secondary memory is located in the middle of the base of the system. Pull apart the metal retention clips on either side of the memory DIMM [1] and lift it out of the slot [2] and repeat for any additional DIMMs at that location.

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the SD Card, Access Panel and Battery.

  2. There are three (3) possible locations on the base of the system to fit an M.2 SSD card. The steps below take you through where each position is:

    1. Slot 3 is located above the battery bay in the right-hand corner of the base, remove the single screw that holds the thermal plate [1] in place and pull the plate out of the system [2] Undo the screw [3] securing the end of the card and lift the card out of the PC [4].

Slot 4 is located in the bottom left-hand corner of the base, remove the single screw that holds the thermal plate in place [1] and lift the plate out of the PC [2] To remove the M.2 card from the system, remove the screw from the bottom left corner of the card [3] and lift the card out of the module [4].

    3. Slot 5 is located next to Slot 4 and the right-hand corner system fan, remove the single screw that holds the thermal plate [1] in place and pull the plate out of the system [2] Undo the screw [3] securing the end of the card and lift the card out of the PC [4].
