Slow Internet speed using Killer Ethernet adapters

Summary: The Killer Control Center software allows you to set a speed limit to your wired connection. Configuring a low value results in slower speeds when connected through a wired connection.

  • Alienware

Maximize the speed of the wired connection on your Dell or Alienware computers equipped with the Killer E2400 or E2500 Ethernet card.

Computers equipped with a Killer Ethernet adapter may not reach maximum bandwidth over a wired connection.

Resolution

There is a speed limit option in the Killer Control Center software that you can adjust to solve this issue.

Here are the steps to change the speed limits:

  • Open the Killer Control Center
  • Click Settings on the left menu
  • Click Set Bandwidth Limits (Figure 1)
  • Set the upload and download speeds according to your connection then click Apply Settings (Figure 2)
