Instructions

Method 1: Visually

The Express Service Code and Service Tag are found on the front of the system. It can also be found at the back of the system next to the RAID controller modules.

 

Method 2: Remotely using Modular Disk Storage Manager (MDSM)

Prerequisites:

Modular Disk Storage Management (MDSM) software is necessary for this procedure.
MDSM must be installed on a system which is connected on the same network as the PowerVault disk array. 
Important:
The graphic aspect can be different depending on the MDSM version. Find below several screenshots to follow.

Steps:

  1. Launch MDSM
  2.  Select the array, right click it and select Manage Array
    1. MSDM -> Manage Array

  3. In the new window, click Storage Array Profile

      MDSM->Summary

  4. In the section Find of the new window:
    1. Enter the word ASSET for the firmware versions inferior to the version 08.20.XX.XX and validate
    2. Enter the words Chassis Serial Number for the firmware versions superior to the version 08.20.XX.XX and validate
  5. The Service Tag is visible as shown on the image below:

  6. To convert the Asset Tag to Express Service Code, use the Dell Support page
