PowerEdge: Custom DCUI screen for Dell factory installed version of customized VMware ESXi
Summary: This article shows the different Direct Console User Interface (DCUI) custom screens for VMware ESXi factory-installed servers.

This is a continuation of the blog post "Dell factory install changes for VMware ESXi." Dell 14th generation of servers shipped from factory with Dell customized VMware ESXi pre-installed has a service tag set as the root user password by default.
From October 2017 onwards, Dell modified the default Direct Console User Interface (DCUI) screen to proactively communicate this change. A sample screenshot of the same is as below.
Below customized DCUI screen indicate the usage of "service tag" as root user password for the servers shipped from Dell factories from June 2017 until June 2018.
Below customized DCUI screen indicate the usage of "service tag followed by an exclamation mark" as root user password for the servers shipped from Dell factories from June 2018.
From December 2021 onwards, Dell has modified the custom DCUI screen as below. Note the changes in the DCUI reset options as described in the below screenshots.

Starting March 2022, Dell revised the customized DCUI screen as below. Note the change in command about restoring DCUI screen to the default.
Starting December 2023 onwards, there is a slight change to the custom DCUI screen. An example custom DCUI screen from a PowerEdge R960 is below.
