4K at 60 Hz Support Condition on Dell DA20 Adapter

Cause

The DA20 adapter can support 4K at 60 Hz but depends on the capability of the laptop graphics. The laptop must be able to support HBR3 and HDMI 2.0.

Resolution

When the DA20 adapter is connected to a laptop with HBR2 capability, bandwidth has to be shared between video and USB data the max video you get is 4K at 30 Hz.

If you use a laptop with HBR3 and HDMI 2.0 capability, the DA20 adapter you can get 4K at 60 Hz. Bandwidth is greater on HBR3 compared with HBR2.

Note: In the following DisplayPort (DP) Alt mode setups, bandwidth is not shared between video and Data and it supports 4K @60Hz.
  1. If you use a Dell dongle adapter Type C to HDMI Part# 625RG and your laptop is HBR2 and supports HDMI 2.0 you get 4K at 60 Hz.
  2. If you use a Dell dongle adapter Type C to DP Part# YJ3Y6, you get 4K at 60 Hz
