Audio Noise from Inspiron 3505 and Vostro 3405 When in Battery Mode

Symptoms

The speaker may emit a popping noise when playing music or video in battery mode. The noise is gone once the AC adapter is connected.

Affected Platforms:

  • Inspiron 3505
  • Vostro 3405

Cause

The issue is related to the Toshiba solid state drive.

Resolution

Updating to BIOS version 1.4.4 or later, and Toshiba SSD Firmware Version 1041.0106, A00 or later on the computer resolves the issue.
