Symptoms

Precision 5820, 7820, and 7920 tower computers have no sound from the speakers that are built into dual 4K monitors. The problem may also appear as audio failing to detect on a second monitor.

These issues are only encountered with Nvidia RTX A5000 and A6000 graphics adapters on computers with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.0 operating system.

Cause

Nvidia R460 driver is used to support the RTX A5000/6000 Graphics cards. Red Hat confirmed this is a compatibility issue of the audio framework driver pulseaudio.

In the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.0 operating system, audio output is only available from one monitor.

Resolution

Final Solution:

An online update to upgrade the operating system to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 resolves this issue.

Workaround:

If two monitors are used with the computer, select the audio output to a single monitor.
