Message displayed on the Dell Splash Screen

 

You may see a message on-screen when your Latitude or Precision laptop passes the Power-On Self-Test (POST) and enters the Dell splash screen. The following message is displayed:

Secured with SafeBIOS
Note: This article is specific to the Dell Latitude and Precision families of mobile laptops taking on this new security feature. However, this does not mean that other Dell product families are not capable of this new security feature. There are other Dell products that can display the SafeBIOS messaging, but they are not dealt with in this article.

Cause

The message is only for use with compatible products.

Note: The information in this article applies ONLY to Latitude and Precision laptops that meet the following SafeBIOS requirements:
  • It uses the 12th generation Intel Alder-Lake (ADL) Central Processor Unit (CPU) or better
  • It has a discrete Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
  • It uses Secure Boot Support
  • It uses verified boot (Also known as: Boot Guard)
  • You can set a BIOS Password
  • You can use BIOS Recovery
  • It follows the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-147 (Authenticated Updates)
  • It uses Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Measured Boot

This message applies to those Latitude and Precision laptops that meet the SafeBIOS requirements and have the Intel Alder-Lake (ADL) CPU or better.

Dell SafeBIOS mitigates the risk of BIOS and firmware tampering with integrated firmware attack detection. It uses a secure cloud environment to compare your individual BIOS and Firmware image against the official measurements held in the cloud. Dell automates the early detection of BIOS Events and Indicators of Attack and high-risk configurations. It brings visibility to your BIOS configuration history.
