Refer e20fd18a-ad8a-4775-b753-7b37bd5402dd_getHostInformation.log on the agent host for more details.

The noted Agent Host plug-in log shows:

<Date Time> acputil.py[671]:execute() Info:Running command: /sbin/ip link
<Date Time> host.py[1458]:getAliases() NICList :: ['vethxxxd@if256', 'lo', 'enxxx2', ............]
<Date Time> acputil.py[270]:getCommandTimeout() CommandTimeout value : 1800
<Date Time> acputil.py[665]:execute() commandTimeout value : 1800
<Date Time> acputil.py[671]:execute() Info:Running command: /sbin/ip addr show dev vethxxxd@if256
<Date Time> host.py[1465]:getAliases() Error:ip command not found

Running the command manually, it is the device that does not exist that is returned, even though the device does exist.

[root@SourceHost logs]# /sbin/ip addr show dev vethxxxd@if256
Device "vethxxxd@if256" does not exist.

Cause

Red Hat IP link command was returning several network devices. The first of these were not valid and as a result, the next command caused the agent to stop responding.

Resolution

Engage the host Administrator to remove the invalid network device.
