Symptoms
A remote backup job to the PowerProtect DD remote system may fail if users expand the volume size for which a backup session has already been created.
Cause
The cause of this symptom is considered to be a failure of the internal InitBackup/start_backup calls in the Data Domain Storage Direct (DDSD) modules for the extended volume.
Resolution
This issue was resolved in PowerStoreOS version 4.1 (or later).
Workaround:
With earlier versions:
- To resolve the condition if the symptom is identified, the user may remove and reassign the protection policy and retry the remote backup.
- To avoid this symptom, expand the volume size before creating a remote backup session, or keep the volume size as it is after creating a remote backup session.
