Symptoms
When using the NetWorker Web User Interface (NWUI) to add a Data Domain to the NetWorker server, the Required (*) asterisk is omitted from the creation page but does appear when editing an already added Data Domain.
The HOSTS is required when adding a Data Domain.
In the Data Domain logs, the error is seen:
WARNING: Failed to verify the password for user ddboost. Error is 7:Authentication failure.Cause
NWUI page does not display the (*) asterisk. Because of this the user omits adding the backup server hostname to the field. They receive an error as shown below.

Resolution
When creating the Data Domain, you must add:
- The Access Username and Password for the DDBOOST user
- Add the name (FQDN) of the Backup server to the Hosts and the creation works without issue.
NOTE: When editing the Data Domain field after you have created it. The (*) asterisk is displayed!
