Symptoms

The following error is observed in the NetWorker server daemon.raw.

Linux: /nsr/logs/daemon.raw
Windows: C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\logs\daemon.raw

nsrvproxy_mgmt Possible wrong vProxy user id or password invalid credentials Received an HTTP code:401,lib curl message"url:"https://vPROXY_NAME:9090/api/vi/Vproxy engines"
NSR VMware proxy resource on vPROXY_NAME deleted. nsrvproxy_mgmt: Failed to register vProxy 'vPROXY_NAME': NSR VMware proxy 'vPROXY_NAME' registration failed. vProxy is an unstable state. Check the vProxy log for the cause.

Cause

1. NetWorker server has multiple network interfaces, and advanced TCP/IP settings have automatic metric check enabled.
2. The vProxy state is in a maintenance state.

Resolution

1. Ensure that the wanted network interface of the NetWorker server has priority over the other interfaces.
2 Confirm that the NetWorker server can reach port 9090 on the vProxy appliance:
nsrports -t vPROXY_HOSTNAME -p 9090

3. Ensure that the proxy state is in an unregistered state.
A. Log in to the vProxy as admin using SSH.
B. Switch to the root user:
sudo su -

C. Ensure the vProxy can reach port 9090 on the NetWorker server:
curl -v NetWorker_SERVER_HOSTNAME:9090

D. Use the following commands to check the vProxyState.dat and set the vProxy state to unregistered.
 # cat /opt/emc/vproxy/runtime/state/vProxyState.dat
--> If it's not in UNREGISTERED State, run next command.
 # echo UNREGISTERED > /opt/emc/vproxy/runtime/state/vProxyState.dat

NOTE: The NetWorker server and vProxy appliance must communicate over port 9090. If this communication fails. Check with the network/system administrator for any operating system or network firewalls which may be blocking this communication. Also ensure that hostnames and IP addresses are resolved correctly in DNS. If system hosts files are used instead of DNS, ensure that hosts file entries are correct and not misrouting any communication attempts.
