XPS 14 9440 UMA Configuration Memory Clock Show 5600 MHz and not 6400 MHz

Symptoms

XPS 14 9440 laptop memory clock speed only shows 5600 MHz. However, the specification for the memory used in the laptop is 6400 MHz.

The speed discrepancy can only be seen when:

  • XPS 14 9440 laptop Unified Memory Architecture (UMA) configuration (Only with the Integrated graphics card.)
  • BIOS revision is 1.3.0 or older

 


Cause

The memory clock speed was not set to maximum performance when the Intel Plan of Record (POR) update. There is no hardware change request to upgrade the memory clock speed to 6400 MHz. Flash the BIOS to change the limitation setting of the memory clock speed.

 


Resolution

Updating to BIOS version 1.3.1 or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the BIOS, refer to BIOS Update Guide.
