NVP vProxy: VM backup fails with 'SSL certificate problem: self-signed certificate'

Symptoms

NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) VM backup fails with Error:

Unable to start backup on vProxy 'vProxy_hostname': libCURL: function "curl_easy_perform" returned error 60: "SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate"

In nsradmin, the "NSR VMware Proxy" resource shows no certificate.

Cause

Some event causes the certificate hash for the vProxy resource to be blank.

The nsr vmware proxy resource's  VM proxy certificate field should contain the content's of the vProxy's /opt/emc/vproxy/runtime/trust/vproxyCert.pem file

For 19.9.x and prior: 

Unregistering and re-registering the vProxy refreshes the certificate and restore function.
