Cause

• Incorrect parameter in the vpxd.cfg log file or change in the Domain Name Server (DNS) causes vpxd fail to start.

Resolution

• This issue can be fixed using one of the following approaches:

a. If vCenter is configured to use a DNS server, add a DNS record to resolve the hostnameUrl property value.

Or

b. Update the /etc/hosts file to resolve the value on the hostnameUrl property value.

Or

c. Replace the value of the hostnameURL in the vpxd.cfg configuration file, at /etc/vmware-vpx/vpxd.cfg property, with the vCenter IP. Example:

Original:

<hostnameUrl>vcsa01</hostnameUrl>

<instanceName>vcsa01</instanceName>

Edited:

<hostnameUrl>172.16.1.15</hostnameUrl>

<instanceName>vcsa01</instanceName>
