Dell Samsung PM893 SSD SMART faults because attributes #173, #175, and #177 fall below the defined 5% threshold.
Even when the Drive Life Remaining (DLR) rated write endurance (SMART attribute #245) is still around 30%.
Cause
In firmware HJ55 and earlier versions, an incorrect MaxEraseCount of 7372 was set. This value was corrected to 9478 in later firmware version HJ62.
The SMART attributes #173, #175, and #177 normalized values are not updated even when the drive firmware is upgraded from HJ55 to HJ62.
Drives that were in SMART failure state will remain in SMART failure state after updating to firmware HJ62.
Resolution
Both conditions will be resolved in the next drive firmware release "HJ64," which will be available late October 2025.
Drives experiencing premature SMART failures will return to normal operation after the firmware update.
