現象

SQL AlwaysOn incremental backups time out and fail. The secondary cluster nodes logs show the following errors: 
avsql Error <18494>: Processing of status wrapup summary did not complete successfully for all targets, try to increase the status wrapup summary timeout.
avsql Error <12981>: Unable to forward a ctl message to the remote client '192.168.1.1', error code: 3.
avsql Error <17416>: Unable to forward the final summary to the primary replica!

原因

The root cause not known.

The secondary SQL cluster node takes time to complete the backup. Because of this, it is unable to communicate with the primary node which lost connection with the secondary node.

Another potential cause might be due to heavy resource usage on the SQL client when there is a high multistream count.

解決方法

Increase the durations of the status-wrapup-summary-timeout and the secondary-replica-timeout.

This is achieved by adding the following flags to the avsql.cmd file in the shared var directory:
The flag values are measured in seconds. 
--status-wrapup-summary-timeout=5400  
--secondary-replica-timeout=300
 
If this does not resolve the issue, change the multistream count in the dataset assigned to the SQL cluster to either 2 or 1.
