Data Domain: Support Bundle Generation Taking Excessively Long

Support bundle generation takes an excessively long time (longer than 30 mins and can exceed 2 hours), whether started from the command line or the GUI.

• This causes a delay in providing the support bundle to Data Domain, which may delay troubleshooting.
• For systems integrated with DLm, it can result in a timeout from DLm when requesting a support bundle using this method.

Part of the support bundle generation processes rely on an internal command being run at least twice to gather information. Internal timeouts can cause the command to take more than an hour to run. During this time, the support bundle generation process is blocked from completing.

This issue is intended to be resolved in a future release of DD OS.

A workaround can be applied by Data Domain support for impacted systems. It adds an extra option to an internal script, reducing command duration and improving support bundle generation time. Contact your contract support provider for assistance.
