Acquiring the CloudFormation template and AMI

On request, Dell Technologies provides access to the CloudFormation template and Amazon Machine Image (AMI) that are required to deploy the Cyber Recovery solution.

CloudFormation template

NOTE:Optionally, you can also request the AMI that is required to deploy the CyberSense software on AWS.

The CloudFormation template declares the Amazon Web Services (AWS) resources that make up a stack. The template is a text file that you can edit in any text editor.

Send a request for access to the Cyber Recovery CloudFormation template to CyberRecoveryCloudRequest@Dell.com and provide the following information:

  • Customer name
  • Sales order number
  • AWS region in which you want to deploy the Cyber Recovery solution.

This information is required to ensure access to the correct AMI and CloudFormation template.

  • Your AWS account ID, which is required for access to the Cyber Recovery AMI.

The AWS account ID is a 12-digit number, such as 123456789012, which uniquely identifies an AWS account.

For information about how to retrieve the AWS account user ID for your AWS account, see Finding your AWS account ID.

  • Your AWS User Canonical ID, which is used for access to the CloudFormation template.

The canonical ID is an alpha-numeric identifier, such as 79a59df900b949e55d96a1e698fbacedfd6e09d98eacf8f8d5218e7cd47ef2be, that is an obfuscated form of the AWS account ID. Use the canonical ID to identify an AWS account to grant cross-account access to buckets and objects using Amazon S3.

For information about how to retrieve the canonical user ID for your AWS account, as either the root user or an IAM user, see Your AWS account identifiers.

Dell Technologies then grants access to an S3 bucket that stores the CloudFormation template.

AMI

The AMI is a packaged environment that contains the Cyber Recovery configuration and other components that are required to set up an instance.

As part of the stack deployment, the following AMIs are deployed:

  • Cyber Recovery management host (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12)
  • PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition (DDVE DDOS 7.4.0.5)
  • Jump host CIS Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Benchmark - Level 2
NOTE:The CyberSense AMI is not part of the stack deployment. Optionally, deploy CyberSense after the Cyber Recovery solution is deployed on AWS. For more information, see Deploying CyberSense on AWS.
