PDF

Preparing your environment

Before you deploy the Cyber Recovery solution on Google Cloud Platform, ensure that you meet the prerequisites and prepare your environment.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have reviewed General requirements for deploying the Cyber Recovery solution on Google Cloud Platform.

Steps

  1. Review the DDVE and CIS jump host terms and complete the subscriptions:
    1. Go to Google Cloud Marketplace: Dell PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition (DDVE) at https://console.cloud.google.com/marketplace/product/dellemc-ddve-public/powerprotect-dd-virtual-edition and accept DDVE terms.
    2. Go to Google Cloud Marketplace: CIS Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Benchmark - Level 2 at https://console.cloud.google.com/marketplace/product/cis-public/cis-windows-server-2019-level-2 and accept CIS jump host terms.
  2. Before you deploy the Cyber Recovery solution on Google Cloud Platform, create a Google Cloud Platform project. The Terraform template deploys the Cyber Recovery solution into this project.
  3. Create a Google Cloud Platform service account with the Owner role assigned.
You can use the Google credentials for the service account to authenticate the deployment. You can also use gCloud authentication instead of the service account. In this case, your user account must be assigned the Owner role.
  4. Ensure that Cyber Recovery VM image is shared with your Google Cloud Platform project.
  5. Ensure that you have network knowledge about how to connect to the Google Cloud Platform VPC:
    • VPC in Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) format
    • Subnets in CIDR format
      • The minimum subnet is a /28 subnet, which provides 16 addresses
      • The maximum subnet netmask is a /7 subnet, which provides 33,554,430 addresses
    • IP address of the production DD systems
    • IP address of a workstation that can connect to the Cyber Recovery jump host
  6. For other Google Cloud Platform limitations, see Cyber Recovery on Google Cloud Platform limitations and unsupported features.
