Resetting the Cyber Recovery passwords

After the Cyber Recovery software is deployed on Google Cloud Platform, reset the Cyber Recovery passwords. Use RDP to log in to the jump host to access the Cyber Recovery management host.

Prerequisites

Before you log in to the Cyber Recovery management host, wait approximately 10 minutes to ensure that the installation is completed.

About this task

The Cyber Recovery solution for Google Cloud Platform does not support password-based SSH access to the Cyber Recovery management host. Instead, use the public key that is assigned to the Cyber Recovery management host instance.

Steps

  1. From the jump host, open a PowerShell session.
  2. Use SSH to access the Cyber Recovery management host. 
    ssh -i <path-to-key-file> cruser@<ip-of-cr-instance>

    where:

    • <path-to-key-file-> is the path to the public key that you copied to the Cyber Recovery management host.
    • <ip-of-cr-instance> is the IP address of the Cyber Recovery instance.

    The following is an example: 

    ssh -i Desktop\mykeypair.pem cruser@10.0.0.20
  3. Reset the Cyber Recovery passwords and follow the prompts: 
    sudo /opt/dellemc/cr/bin/crsetup.sh --reset
    NOTE As best practice, we recommend that you delete key pairs when you no longer need them.
  4. Follow the displayed directions to access the Cyber Recovery URL from a supported browser.
    The login page for the Cyber Recovery UI is displayed.
    NOTE By default, the deployment includes the Internet Explorer browser. To install a different browser, see Transferring files to the Cyber Recovery vault jump host.
  5. Reset the Cyber Recovery management host root user password: 
    sudo passwd root

Results

When the Cyber Recovery passwords on the Cyber Recovery management host are reset, the Cyber Recovery environment is configured, and you can use the Cyber Recovery software.
