This section
defines attributes for the power-on self-test (POST) log. When you
turn on your computer, the POST checks various system components before
the operating system loads. The POST tests the random-access memory
(RAM), the hard drives, and the keyboard, for example. While the POST
is running, it makes a log file that system administrators can view.
The variables in this section also contribute to managing the POST
log.
