Removing system board

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. base cover
    2. battery
    3. SIM card/dummy SIM card tray
    4. memory module
    5. PCIe SSD
    6. WLAN card
    7. WWAN card
    8. heat sink assembly

To identify the screws, seescrew list

  1. To disconnect the eDP cable:
    1. Un route the WLAN and WWAN cables from the routing channels [1].
    2. Remove the two (M2.0 x 3.0) screws that secures the eDP cable [2].
    3. Remove the eDP cable bracket [3].
    4. Disconnect the eDP cable from the system board [4].
    5. Lift the tape that secures the eDP cable to the system board [5].

  2. To disconnect the cables:
    NOTE To disconnect the speaker, LED board, coin cell battery and the power connector port cables, use a plastic scribe to release the cables from the connectors. Do not pull the cable as it may result in breakage

  3. To remove the memory module bracket:
    1. Remove the (M2.0 x 3.0) screw that secure memory module bracket to the system board [1].
    2. Lift the memory module bracket from the system board [2].

  4. To remove the system board:
    1. Remove the USB Type-C bracket.

    2. Remove the eight (M2.0 x 3.0) screws that secure the system board [1].
    3. Lift the system board away from the system [2].

  5. Remove the one (M2.0 x 3.0) screws that secure the USB Type-C bracket.

  6. Flip the system board, peel off the tapes(if any) securing the bracket and remove the USB Type-C port from underneath the system board.

    NOTE When removing or reinstalling the USB Type-C bracket to the system board, technicians must place the system board on an ESD mat to avoid damage.
