Removing the display assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Enter service mode.
  3. Remove the SIM card.
  4. Remove the microSD card.
  5. Remove the base cover.
  6. Remove the WLAN card.
  7. Remove the WWAN card.

Steps

  1. Peel the adhesive tape and disconnect the sensor-board cable from the connector on the system board.
  2. Remove the two screws (M2x3) that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
  3. Lift the display cable bracket away from the system.
  4. Peel the tape that secures the infrared camera cable to the system board.
  5. Open the latch and disconnect the infrared camera cable from the connector on the system board.
    CAUTION: The display cable and infrared camera cable are part of the same composite cable structure. To avoid damaging the cables, and the cable connectors on the system board, do not apply tension on any of these cables until all cables in the series have been disconnected.
  6. Using the pull tab, disconnect the display cable from the connector on the system board.
  7. Remove the infrared camera cable and display cable from the routing guide on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  8. Open the display assembly to a 180 degree and flip over the computer, and then place the computer on a flat surface.
  9. Remove the six screws (M2.5x5) that secure the display hinges to the system board.
  10. Remove the palm-rest and keyboard assembly off the display assembly.
