Associate the respective Power Distribution Unit (PDU) and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) devices to a rack to monitor accurate power consumption.
Prerequisites
Ensure that the devices are discovered in OpenManage Enterprise.
About this task
NOTE:If you are logging in as a Device Manager, only the device groups and devices that are in your scope are available for viewing and management.
For example, if you are logging in as a Device Manager user, you can only view the devices added to the group defined in your scope. You cannot associate any PDUs to a group.
Steps
Launch OpenManage Enterprise and perform one of the following steps:
Click
Plugins > Power Management > Rack View, and then right-click and select
Manage Rack option.
The
Manage Rack page is displayed.
OR
Click
Devices.
The
Devices tab is displayed.
Click
PLUGIN GROUPS > Physical Hierarchy, expand until rack level and right-click the group, and select
Manage Rack option.
The
Manage Rack page is displayed.
To Associate the devices to a rack, perform one of the following steps:
Click the
Associated Devices tab and then click
Associate to Rack.
The
Select Device(s) wizard is displayed.
NOTE:Only the PDU and UPS devices are displayed.
OR
Click the
Add to Rack Slot option.
The
Select Device(s) wizard is displayed.
NOTE:All the devices added to Power Manager are displayed.
Optional: To filter and view the data:
Click
Advanced Filters.
The following filters are displayed:
Health State
Power State
Connection State
Name
Identifier
Model
Type
Managed State
Optional: To clear the filters, click
Clear All Filters.
In the
Select Device(s) section, select the devices and click
Next.
In
Add device(s) to rack slots section, click
Finish.
The PDU and UPS devices are associated with the rack and are listed in the
Associated Devices tab. UPS devices are not associated with the rack for the following cases:
UPS devices can be associated with only one physical hierarchy.
UPS devices cannot be moved to another hierarchy. If the UPS is associated to the rack but not associated to any group, then the device can be moved to a rack in another hierarchy.
