About this task

After the OpenManage Integration extension is installed in Windows Admin Center, perform the following actions to launch the extension. To learn more about the user interface enhancements done from version 2.3 to 3.0, see User Interface enhancements from OMIMSWAC v2.3 to v3.0 white paper.

Steps

  1. In the upper left corner of the Windows Admin Center, select Server Manager or Cluster Manager from the drop-down menu.
  2. From the list, select a server or cluster connection, and then click Connect.
    NOTE:
    • If the extension prompts you to specify the "Manage as" credentials, ensure that you select Manage as and provide appropriate administrator credentials to authenticate the connection, and then select the use these credentials for all connections check box. Ensure that the user is part of the local user group of gateway administrators. For more information about selecting "Manage as", see the "Get Started with Windows Admin Center" section in the Microsoft documentation.
    • OMIMSWAC does not support single sign-on and smart card authentication methods.
  3. In the left pane of the Microsoft Windows Admin Center, under EXTENSIONS, click Dell OpenManage Integration.
When you launch the OpenManage Integration extension for the first time, a customer notice is displayed to indicate the operations performed by the extension such as enabling the USB NIC and creating an iDRAC user on the target node. Click Accept to continue to manage the PowerEdge servers or clusters by using the OpenManage Integration extension.
NOTE: After the information from the managed nodes is collected, the previously created iDRAC user is deleted by OMIMSWAC.
