Dell Power Manager User's Guide

Battery settings Group Policies

You can customize Battery Settings using this policy group. Select a battery setting, and select any one of the following options from the drop-down list:
  • User Controlled
  • Standard
  • ExpressCharge
  • Adaptive
  • Custom
  • Primarily AC Use
If the Charge Mode setting is set to Custom, you can set the start or stop values. Values may vary between different systems. When a specified value is not within the minimum or maximum capabilities, the minimum or maximum value of the client system is used. When specifying minimum and maximum values, use the following guidelines:
  • Minimum start value is 50%.

  • Maximum stop value is 95%.

  • Start and stop values must differ by more than 5%.

NOTE: Invalid settings are ignored, and not honored.

NOTE: When Custom is selected, both the Start Charging and Stop Charging values must be set.

NOTE: When Lock current BIOS setting is selected, the UI displays the current BIOS battery setting as read-only.

NOTE: If you restrict the settings using the group policy, the battery settings in the Dell Power Manager user interface or system BIOS does not change.

The system administrator can configure the Battery Settings policy to display or hide the available battery settings on the UI.
