Removing A Flex Bay

  • CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
  1. If installed, remove the front bezel.
  2. Open the system.
  3. Remove the cables.
    1. For a 2.5 inch drive flex bay, remove the cables from the slim ODD and the backplane.
    2. For a 3.5 inch drive flex bay and a Dell PowerEdge Express Flash device flex bay, remove the cables from the backplane.
  4. Press the release latch and pull the flex bay out and away from the chassis.
  5. Close the system.
  6. If applicable, replace the front bezel.
