Volume rescan and datastore creation for an ESXi hosts with iSCSI network adapters

Perform the following steps to rescan storage and create datastores on the ESXI host:

  1. Log in to the VMware vCenter Server, then click the ESXi host that was configured in step 5 of Attach an ESXi host with network adapters to the storage system.
  2. On the Configure tab, select Storage Adapters.
  3. Select the iSCSI software adapter, and click Rescan Storage.
    The Rescan Storage dialog box opens.
  4. Click OK.
    After a successful rescan, the volumes that are displayed in the Register an ESXi host with a configured software iSCSI adapter and create and map volumes section are visible.
  5. Create a VMware datastore file system on the ME4 Series volume.
    1. On the Configure tab, select Datastore > Add Storage.
    2. Select VMFS as the type on New Datastore screen, then click Next.
    3. Enter a name for the datastore, select right volume/Lun, and click Next.
    4. Select VMFS6 as the VMFS version of datastore, then click OK.
    5. On the Partition configuration page, select the default value that is shown, then click Next.
    6. Click Finish to complete the creation of the new datastore.
