Removing the System Board

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. left cover
    2. optical drive
    3. air tunnel
    4. heat sink
    5. system fan
    6. front cover
    7. hard drive
    8. chassis intrusion switch
    9. coin-cell battery
    10. PCI card
    11. memory module (s)
    12. processor
  3. Disconnect all the connectors from the system board.

  4. Remove the screws that secure the system board to the chassis.

  5. Lift the system board in an upward direction and remove it from the computer.
