Starting and stopping the SMAS service

About this task

If required to do so, you can start and stop the SMAS service manually.

Steps

Complete one of the following steps:
  • To start or stop the performance database service in Windows, do one of the following:
    • Open the Services application in Windows. Right click on the EMC Symmetrix Management Application Server service, and select either Start or Stop.
    • Use the following commands to start or stop the Windows services using the CLI:

      Action Command
      Start net start "EMC Symmetrix Management Application Server"
      Stop net stop "EMC Symmetrix Management Application Server"
  • To start or stop the SMAS service on Linux, go to the /etc/init.d directory and use the following commands:

    Action Command
    Start ./smas start
    Stop ./smas stop
NOTE:

In a future release of Unisphere for PowerMax on Linux, the smas service startup script at /etc/init.d/smas will be replaced with a systemd service start script.
