These client-side tasks allow Deferred Activation customization.

• Add a disclaimer to the Activation Logon dialog box

• Disable automatic re-activation (optional)

  Add a disclaimer to the Activation Logon dialog box

  The Activation Logon dialog displays at these times:

• When an unmanaged user logs on.

• When the user decides to activate encryption and selects Activate Encryption from the system tray Encryption icon menu.

  

  The text that displays above the Email field is customizable and can include site- or organization-specific installation and activation instructions.

  To customize the text in this dialog, add and enter the instructions into the following registry key on the client computer:

  Disable Automatic Re-activation

  When a user has activated but fails to authenticate, the Encryption client tries to automatically re-activate the user. To disable the automatic re-activation of users, the administrator can manually add the following two registry values.

  • IMPORTANT:

    The Activation Logon dialog is used with the automatic re-activation feature. The feature needs the user's credentials to re-activate the user. It is strongly recommended that when the automatic re-activation feature is enabled, the Activation Logon dialog's AutoPromptForActivation key should also be enabled. Otherwise, the user has no way of knowing that he has lost access to his encryption keys.

    Enable or disable automatic re-activation

    The automatic re-activation feature is enabled by default, but can be overridden in the registry.

    1 = enable (default)

    0 = disable

    Enable or disable automatic display of Activation Logon dialog for unmanaged users

    The following registry key controls whether or not the Activation dialog automatically displays when a user logs into his computer with an unmanaged account.
