Installing the system board

CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process.

The following images indicate the system board connectors.

The following images indicate the location of the system board and provide a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Align and place the system board on its slot on the palm-rest assembly.
Replace the three screws (M2x3) that secure the system board to the palm-rest assembly.
Connect the sensor board-cable to the connector on the system board.
Connect the display cable to the connector on the system board.
Route the display cable through the routing guides on the system board.
Connect the fan cable to the connector on the system board.
Connect the touchpad cable to the connector on the system board and close the latch.
Connect the USH cable to the USH module and close the latch.
Connect the coin-cell battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Adhere the black flap near the antenna cables and cover the sensor board-cable.
Place the display-cable bracket over the display cable.
Replace the two screws (M2x3) that secure the display-cable bracket to the palm-rest assembly..
Place the Type-C bracket on its slot on the palm-rest assembly.
Replace the three screws (M2x4) that secure the Type-C bracket to the palm-rest assembly..

Install the assembly-inner frame.
Install the battery.
Install the heat sink (discrete GPU) or heat sink (integrated GPU), as applicable.
Install the M.2 2230 solid-state drive in Slot 2, if applicable.
Install the M.2 2230 or M.2 2280 solid-state drive in Slot 1, as applicable.
Install the memory modules.
Install the WLAN card.
Install the 4G WWAN card or 5G WWAN card, as applicable.
Install the base cover.
Install the SIM card.
