need a battery for my laptop. It is a Dell Precision 5530.

On September 5th I followed a link on Dell’s email to buy a 3 cell battery from the Dell website. The battery on its own bought from the website was costing £61.96 sterling or approx. € 72.41 including vat. I still had 2 of them in my basket the following morning at that price. I reduced the quantity to 1 battery on the morning of the 6th and the Dell website updated the pricing to £84.96 sterling including vat as per screenshot below (a 37% increase overnight).

The explanation given was prices change all the time.

I was also offered a refurbished battery with 90 days warranty only at a price €86.86. I placed an order on September 6th for a Dell 3-cell 56 Wh Lithium Ion Replacement Battery for Select Laptops.as this came with a 1 year warranty. The order was cancelled by Dell & when I queried it I was told the battery was no longer available. This battery is still on the Dell website this morning.

On September 10th I ordered a Dell 6-cell 97 Wh Lithium Ion Replacement Battery for Select Laptops. This order was again cancelled by Dell. The reason this time is because the delivery date was too far away.

On September 23rd I again ordered a Dell 6-cell 97 Wh Lithium Ion Replacement Battery for Select Laptops. This order was again cancelled by Dell. I raised a service request and the response was “As much as I understand the urgency of the matter at hand, I am unfortunately unable to assist you with its resolution as this is out of our support boundary.

My colleagues at the Technical Support department will be more than happy to assist you with the battery required for your device”.

I started a chat with technical support who were very quick to tell me I should be in touch with the warranty team. My battery is not covered under warranty so this makes no sense. This is a failure by Dell sales department to make a sale to a customer despite numerous attempts. If I was a potential customer looking to spend €2,000 on a new laptop would Dell fail me?

This has been the worst customer care I have ever experienced. I don’t think it is too much to ask Dell to provide me with the facility to purchase a battery for my laptop. Can someone please help me as this has gone well beyond a joke.
