In this video, we'll show you how to replace the single graphics card in your Alienware Aurora ACT1250. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and backup all data. Ensure that your computer is turned off and all connected devices are unplugged. Remember to use ESD protection when you are working inside the computer to ensure your personal safety. For more information on ESD protection, refer to the Alienware Aurora ACT1250 Owner's Manual.
To begin, loosen the captive screw that secures the left side cover release latch to the chassis, then pull left side cover release latch to release and lift the left side cover away from the chassis. Lay a computer on its right side. If your computer is shipped with a graphics card end holder, press the securing clip on the end holder and remove the power cables.
Then slide the release latch to its unlock position and lift it away from the lower front chassis fan. If your computer is shipped with a graphics card bracket, remove the screw and lift the bracket away from the chassis. Some graphics card brackets may not require removing a screw.
Press the releasing clip on the graphics card power connector and disconnect the power cables from the graphics card. Next, lift the pull tab and open the expansion card door. Push the securing tab on the PCIe slot away from the graphics card. Grasp the card by its top corner and ease it out of the slot.
To install the single graphics card, place the card into the PCIe slot and press down firmly until it snaps into place. Close the expansion card door and snap the latch back into position. Then connect the power cables to the card. If your graphics card is shipped with a graphics-card bracket, align and slide the bracket on the chassis.
Then replace the screw. Some graphics-card brackets may not require replacing the screw. Replace the end holder over the lower front chassis fan and slide the latch into its lock position. Root the power cables through the securing clip and lock the clip.
To install the left side cover, place the computer upright. Locate the tabs on the cover and slots on the chassis. Rotate the cover towards the chassis until it clicks into place. Finally tighten the captive screw that secures the left side cover release latch to the chassis. For more information about the Alienware Aurora ACT1250, visit Dell.com/Support.
