In this video, I will show you how to replace the solid-state drive or SSD in your Alienware Aurora ACT1250. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and backup all data. Ensure that your computer is turned off and all connected devices are unplugged. Remember to use ESD protection when you are working inside the computer to ensure your personal safety. For more information on ESD protection, refer to the Alienware Aurora ACT1250 Owner's Manual.
To begin, loosen the captive screw that secures the left side cover release latch to the chassis, then pull left side cover release latch to release and lift the left side cover away from the chassis. Lay a computer on its right side. Your computer has two SSD slots.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the system board, then slide and lift it out of the slot. If you are replacing it with a different size than the one you removed, the screw mount must be shifted to fit the new SSD. Install the SSD by aligning the notch with the tab on the slot, then insert it at a 45 degree angle into the system board. Press the other end down and replace the screw that secures the SSD to the system board.
To install the left side cover place the computer upright. Locate the tabs on the cover and slots on the chassis. Rotate the cover towards the chassis until it clicks into place. Finally tighten the captive screw that secures the left side cover release latch to the chassis. For more information about the Alienware Aurora ACT1250, visit Dell.com/Support.
