Fix OneDrive Sync Problem When You See "OneDrive Up to date" Message in the Icons Tray

1. Right-click the OneDrive icon in the notification bar.
2. Click Exit.
3. Open OneDrive application in the Start Menu.

If OneDrive sync does not work or seems to be stuck then try a reset. Note that doing this will re-sync all of your OneDrive files.

1. Press + R then enter, %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset.

2. Click OK.

   Note: Ensure that the OneDrive icon in the notification area disappears and re-appears after a minute or two. If the OneDrive icon doesn't re-appear after a few minutes, repeat step 1.

Sync troubles may also be caused by the Office Upload cache system. To turn off the office upload take the following steps:

1. Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon in the notification area.
2. Click Settings.
3. Click the Office tab then uncheck the Use Office 2016 to sync Office files that I open option.

Insufficient OneDrive and disk space storage on your PC may also cause a sync problem. Ensure that you have enough space by checking and comparing the size of your OneDrive storage with the available disk space on your computer. If space is not enough, considering deleting or moving some files, or free up your disk space then try the sync process again. Alternatively, you may buy more storage by following the steps described below:

Check the folders that you are trying to sync and make sure that they are correct. Note that in Windows 10, you will only see the OneDrive files that you choose to sync in your computer.

1. Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon in the notification area.
2. Click Settings > Auto-save.
3. Select where you want to save your files then click the OK button.
   

Duplicate filenames may lead to a sync problem so ensure that each file has a unique name. You may also have trouble with the sync process if you are uploading multiple files at the same time. To prevent this from happening, try to limit the number files being uploaded at a given time.

Check the file size of the files that you want to sync make sure that it is no larger than 15GB. If the file is too big, reduce the size of the file by zipping it.

Also, check the file path; it should have no more than 400 characters, e.g., C:\Users\<UserName>\Pictures\Saved\2014\January\Holiday\NewYears\Family…

Slow Internet connections may also affect the sync process of OneDrive. Check the Internet speed of your PC by doing the following steps:

1. Open and start the Speed test app in your browser by going to speedtest.net or any other speed test website. If the download and upload speeds are slow, you can pause the sync process until you find a faster Internet connection.
2. Right-click theOneDrive folder then select Pause syncing.
   Note: You may also resolve the slow Internet connection issue by restarting your computer.
3. Select from 2, 8, or 24 hours until OneDrive resumes syncing.
4. To see how many files you have in your OneDrive, open File Explorer.
5. Right-click the OneDrive folder then select Properties.
   
6. Check the files, if you have more than 100,000 files then figure out which OneDrive folders you should sync with your PC.

If you are signed into Windows 10 using your Microsoft account for OneDrive but you can't see your files, check if your OneDrive setup has been completed especially if you have more than 500MB of content. To do this take the following steps:

1. Open the File Explorer.
2. Click the OneDrivefolder.
3. Select the files and folders you want to sync in your PC in the Finish setting up OneDrive wizard.
