AppSync: Application Mapping Phase fails with error SPP_000037

Summary: When running a protection the Application Mapping Phase may fail with the error SPP_000037 if the a Silver or Gold Service Plan is run when this is configuration is unsupported.

Symptoms

This will happen with newly created service plans or when the Storage Order Preference is changed to Snapshot on an existing Gold or Silver service plan.

When running a Service Plan the Mapping Phase may fail with the following error:

SPP_000037    <Hostname>    Cannot determine the storage type where application <DBNAME> resides. Verify if the application is located on a supported EMC storage that has been added to AppSync.

In the server log we also see the following:

Cause

This condition can be caused when the wrong Service Plan Template is selected to create the running Service Plan. 

For example AppSync does not support remote snaps with Xtremio arrays. If a Silver or Gold Service plan is used to create a Service Plan and the Snapshot preference is selected then this issue will occur.


 

Resolution

To resolve this issue create a new Service Plan using the Bronze template.

Alternately if Gold or Silver protection is required and RecoverPoint is implemented in the environment the Bookmark option may be selected in the Storage Ordered Preference section Create Copy phase of the Service Plan Properties.
