Cause

Avamar sends minimal information to the boost library, which is not committed to Data Domain (DD) due to the current OST_ABANDON_TIMEOUT setting. Therefore, more time is needed for DD to commit the data.

Resolution

Disable the DD file system by running the following using the sysadmin account:

filesys disable

Increase the OST_ABANDON_TIMEOUT setting by following these steps:

Note: System Engineer (SE) commands have been deprecated in DDOS versions 7.7.5.25, 7.10.1.15, 7.13.0.15, 6.2.1.110 and later and are accessible only by Dell employees.

For Older Versions of Data Domain, enter SE privilege mode on DD and then run the following commands:

SE@## se sysparam set OST_ABANDON_TIMEOUT = <new value>
SE@## se sysparam show OST_ABANDON_TIMEOUT

For Newer Versions of Data Domain, Bash access is required as SE privilege mode is no longer available:

# ddsh -s se sysparam show OST_ABANDON_TIMEOUT
# ddsh -s se sysparam set OST_ABANDON_TIMEOUT= <new value>
# ddsh -s se sysparam show OST_ABANDON_TIMEOUT

Valid values range from 10800 to 259200, with the default being 10800. A recommended initial value is 172800.

Enable the DD file system by running the following command using the sysadmin account:

filesys enable
