Symptoms
The iSM 5.1.0 operating system DUP indicates an installation, or upgrades from a previous iSM version completes successfully but version 5.1.0 is not installed. Therefore Dell Catalog tools such as OpenManage Enterprise (OME), and Windows Admin Center (WAC) will always indicate that the host is non-compliant and keep offering to upgrade iSM.
Cause
The failure is in the DUP installation code itself with a dependency not present if Windows is installed in Server Core mode with no interactive Desktop user interface.
Resolution
The MSI package format of the iSM installer can be manually installed or upgraded without issue.
Dell Engineering has also released iSM 5.1.0 operating system DUP A01 revision (filename: Systems-Management_Application_GCXFN_WN64_5.1.0.0_A01.EXE) that fixes this issue.
If using Catalog tools such as OME, or WAC be sure to first sync with Catalog 23.04.14 released April 14, 2023 before attempting a new compliance report.
