Symptoms
Users attempting to mount a CIFS share from a Data Domain system on a Linux, UNIX, or macOS client may encounter errors or failed mount attempts.
Cause
- Data Domain is designed to support CIFS (SMB) protocol access only from Windows operating systems.
- Mounting CIFS shares on Linux, UNIX, or macOS clients are not supported.
Resolution
- Mounting CIFS shares from a Data Domain on Linux, UNIX, or macOS clients is not supported.
- CIFS access is supported only with Windows OS clients.
- For other environments, consider using NFS or other supported protocols.
