Symptoms

In PowerFlex Manager, new service deployment that is initiated is in an error state when using the nested VDS in vCenter.

Example of the Error:  
Error: /Stage[main]/Asm::Resource_wrapper/Asm::Vcenter::Vds[TXL-PFX-FE-VDS-001]/Vcenter::Dvswitch[/TXL - Berlin - Germany - PFX/TXL-PFX-FE-VDS-001:create]/Vc_dvswitch[/TXL - Berlin - Germany - PFX/TXL-PFX-FE-VDS-001:create]: Could not evaluate: undefined method `networkFolder' for nil:NilClass

Cause

  • PowerFlex Manager supports nested folders as existing services only.
  • PowerFlex Manager does not create VDS within nested folders and if attempted, fails.

Resolution

  • Create the VDS within the folders or Cluster as required, manually.
  • While creating the service, DO NOT create a VDS.
  • Use the existing VDS which is created under the cluster.
