Latitude 5430, 5431, 7430, and Precision 3470 laptops that are shipped with touchpad part number V1R70 may experience intermittent touchpad functionality. This is a firmware-based conflict specific to the touchpad part.
Cause
A firmware issue specific to part number V1R70 caused the touchpad no respond or keep triggering a palm rejection.
Resolution
Firmware Update
The issue has been resolved with a new touchpad firmware.
Update to Dell Touchpad Firmware Update Utility to version 1.08, A02 or later (File Name: Dell-Touchpad-Firmware-Update-Utility_YP2NY_WIN64_1160.4154.264.0_A00). Go to the product support page to download the new firmware: Dell Drivers & Downloads
