Users of the Alienware headset AW720H may experience microphone issues. This includes but is not limited to static distortion sound when speaking loudly.

Update the firmware of AW720H to the latest version available through Alienware Command Center (AWCC) or firmware updater on Dell Support Website to resolve the issue. Follow the instruction below to ensure that both headset and dongle firmware are updated to the latest versions.
Note: Updating either firmware only may cause the headset to have issues or not to work.
- Perform the firmware update with the headset connected using the charging cable to update the headset firmware first.
- Next, perform the firmware update with the headset connected using the dongle to update the dongle firmware.
Follow the steps below to download and install the latest firmware for the AW720H.
- Browse to https://www.dell.com/support/drivers.
- Identify your headset.
- Click Download & Install SupportAssist to auto-detect your headset. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Dell SupportAssist. For more information, see the Dell knowledge base article Dell SupportAssist (formerly Dell System Detect): Overview and Common Questions.
- Enter the Service Tag of the headset and click Search.
- Or, click Browse all products and select your headset from the catalog.
- Select the Operating System that is installed on the Dell computer.
- Under Category, select Audio.
- Locate the latest firmware for the headset.
- Click Download and save the file to your computer.
- Open File Explorer and browse to the location where the downloaded file is saved.
- Double-click the downloaded firmware setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
