PowerProtect: After resizing, or adding a disk to a VMware VM, the subsequent backup is FULL

Summary: Resizing a disk of a VM or adding an additional disk to a VM will cause the next backup to be a FULL backup. Backups are being done with TSDM.

Symptoms

The following VM tasks will cause the next PowerProtect Data Manager VM backup for the modified VM to be promoted to 'FULL' level.

1. Resizing a VM disk.
2. Adding a disk to a VM.

The following messages are seen in the backup log:

Cause

This behavior is as designed.

Resolution

The functionality of FULL sync for a subset of VM disks is not supported as of PowerProtect Data Manager version 19.14.
This functionality is not available in the upcoming release of PowerProtect Data Manager 19.15. 
It will be supported in a future release of PowerProtect Data Manager.
