Avamar: ERROR "The SSH daemon is not running" After Installation of OS Rollup 2024R1v2

Symptoms

After an installation of OS Security Rollup 2024R1v2, an event is logged:

The SSH process appears to be running fine:

Cause

During the installation of OS Security Rollup 2024R1v2, the version of OpenSSH is updated to version 8.4p1. The new version appears differently in the ps -ef output than the previous versions.

The MCS is unable to verify that the SSH daemon is running and reports the SSH status incorrectly.

Resolution

This issue is a false negative and does not have any impact on Avamar functionality or Avamar performance.

Engineering has confirmed that the fix is in the next cumulative patch for Avamar version 19.8, 19.9, 19.10, and 19.10 SP1 on the following:
  • 19.8: Hotfix 338843
  • 19.9: Hotfix 338827
  • 19.10 (19.10.0-135) and 19.10 SP1 (19.10.0-166): Hotfix 338839
