Summary: Live Optics is changing how the login process works for https://app.liveoptics.com. For most, this change is purely cosmetic, but a few may be impacted. Read the following for more information about this change. ...
Instructions
What is the change?
Live Optics now requires sign in with an https://www.dell.com/ account.
Why is this changing?
Use of https://www.dell.com/ as the authentication provider, provides a more robust, secure, and integrated Live Optics experience.
What is an https://www.dell.com/ account?
The https://www.dell.com/ website has an authenticated experience where anyone (being a Dell customer is not a requirement) can log in for a customized experience. Dell Support, Dell Premier, and Dell Partner Portal are already using an https://www.dell.com/ account.
What must I do?
With these authentication changes in place, a screen similar to the image below is presented.
Once an https://www.dell.com/ account matches the email of a Live Optics account, enter the email and password of the https://www.dell.com/ account and click 'Sign In'.
If an https://www.dell.com/ account does not match the email of the Live Optics account, click "Create an account" and follow those instructions.
Being a Dell customer is not required to create an https://www.dell.com/ account. Signing up for an https://www.dell.com/ account is a free activity.
NOTE: It is crucial that sign in uses the same email previously used with Live Optics. This is the only way to ensure visibility of existing Live Optics projects and data.
My organization has SSO integrated with Dell.com. Can SSO be used?
Yes, if an organization has SSO integration, sign in using that, if the email matches the Live Optics email.
Are Live Optics projects and data retained?
Yes, if the sign in at https://www.dell.com/ uses the same email as the Live Optics account, projects, and data are intact.
Are there roles and or access changes in Live Optics?
No. Permissions and roles with the Live Optics application are not impacted due to this change.
Does an https://www.dell.com/ account with the same email, but a different password from an old Live Optics account cause an issue?
Use the https://www.dell.com/ password after the change. Everything should then work.
Does a previously downloaded Collector still work to upload projects to an account?
Yes, previously downloaded collectors work as before.
I cannot use an https://www.dell.com/ account with the same email address. What should I do?
