Symptoms

The local web browser on Windows Server errors with the message refuse to connect when trying to access the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) 11.1.0 web user interface. It may be noted in the Windows System event log that the DSM SA Connection Service service has becomes unresponsive and stopped. This happens shortly after launching the OMSA web user interface through its icon on the Desktop or using Start Menu > OpenManage Applications > Dell OpenManage Server Administrator.

Cause

Locally launching the OMSA web user interface using Start menu or Desktop icon typically attempts single sign-on (SSO) using the current logged in Windows credentials to bypass the OMSA login screen. An issue was introduced in the SSO authentication method with OMSA 11.1.0 build 5747 that causes OMSA's web service to crash.

Resolution

This issue is addressed with the release of OMSA 11.1.0.0 build 5748 for Windows which can bed downloaded from Dell Support Drivers & Downloads.

The web interface can also be accessed locally by entering the following URL address in the web browser:
https://localhost:1311

This causes the OMSA login page to display and prompt for a username and password which does not fail the web service.

This issue does not affect OMSA 11.1.0 for Linux or VMware ESXi.
